Meet Your Team

At Great Turning Healing Center, our Mission is to promote peace and wellbeing through natural collaborative health care. We focus on getting to the root of our patients’ medical condition, using the wisdom of East Asian Medicine and the science of modern Functional Medicine.

Susannah Freeman, L.Ac. serves clients in Southwest Montana with acupuncture and herbal remedies.

Susannah Freeman, L.Ac.

Susannah’s journey in natural medicine began in her teens with the study of nutrition. After earning a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Environmental Studies, she taught ecology in the National Parks while deepening her knowledge of nutrition, massage therapy, yoga, and meditation. In 1994, she completed her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. For over 30 years, she has been a Nationally Certified and State Licensed Acupuncturist, continually expanding her expertise through advanced education and clinical practice.

My story is one I hear echoed by many of our patients: a childhood filled with care and opportunity, yet shadowed by an unexplained sense of dis-ease. Despite a healthy lifestyle, I struggled with years of fatigue and pain, dismissed by lab results that declared me "fine." Conventional medicine treated my symptoms but never the root cause—until I discovered an integrative approach. Through acupuncture, herbal medicine, mindful nutrition, and self-inquiry, I reclaimed my vitality.

Healing wasn’t a single miracle cure but a tapestry of insights—professional guidance, detailed lab work, and a commitment to listening to my body. Now, when illness or injury arises, I have the tools to restore balance. It’s this hard-won wisdom that fuels my gratitude and dedication to serving our community.

It’s my deepest honor to walk this path with you.

Jack Schwem, Acupuncturist, qi gong teacher, martial artist, mystic.

Jack T. G. Schwem, L.Ac.

Jack graduated with a Master’s in Acupuncture from Northwestern Health Sciences University, where he trained in integrative clinics alongside diverse practitioners. This collaborative model shaped his belief in holistic, team-based care—a philosophy he brings to Great Turning.

Medicine captivated him in high school while helping his mother study for nursing school. But as a pre-med student, he grew disillusioned by a system that often overlooked the therapies that had healed him —craniosacral work, qi gong, and herbalism. His search for a more expansive path led to acupuncture after witnessing its profound effects at Great Turning.

In his practice, Jack has seen acupuncture work minor miracles—helping long COVID patients breathe freely again, supporting recovery from traumatic injuries, and reigniting passion for life’s simple pleasures. Every session deepens his respect for this ancient medicine and the resilience of the people who trust him with their care.
